How to Add a Bank Account Using Plaid
Linking a bank account through Plaid allows you to easily fund, make payments, or transfer money. Follow these simple steps to securely connect your bank account.
Navigate to Payment Methods
- From the left-side menu, click on Payment Methods.
- Under "Add New Bank Account," click Connect.
Choose a Connection Method with Plaid
Plaid provides two options to connect your account:
- Instant Verification – Uses your bank login credentials.
- Manual Verification – Uses your bank’s routing and account numbers.
For some customers, we have seen issues going through this login and security question process. If you are unable to enter the requested information on the screen or encounter issues with Instant, we recommend using the Manual process instead.
Instant Verification
- After clicking Connect, enter the account type and the name and business name (if a business account) associated with the account.
- Click Continue
- If you have ever used Plaid before, or would like to save your information for future use, enter your phone number before continuing. Otherwise, select Continue as guest.
- Tip: If you have used plaid before, entering your phone number will show you your previously linked accounts to choose from
- Select your bank from the list or use the search bar to find it. If your bank isn’t listed, you will need to proceed with manual verification.
- Log in to your bank account through the Plaid window that opens.
- Tip: Keep this window open and do not navigate away until the process completes.
- Once linked, your account will appear in the Payment Methods section, highlighted in green to confirm successful verification.
Manual Verification
Enter your account and routing numbers, and Plaid will instantly connect your account.
Note: A few banks require verification of a micro deposit before proceeding with Manual Verification.
- Select "Connect" on the Add a new bank account tile
- Enter the account type, the business name (if a business account) and the account holder name associated with the account
- Click Continue
- Select "Continue as guest" at the bottom
- Select "Manual"
- Click "Continue"
- Enter the accounts' routing and account numbers
- Select whether it is a checking or savings account (this selection must match what was entered on step 2)
- Click Continue
You will receive a success message in the top-right corner indicating that your account has been linked. You are now free to use that account for transfers and payments.
